KT Completes Acquisition of Sidus
July 21, 2005
KT has completed all formalities for the acquisition of movie studio Sidus Pictures. Starting from the second half of 2005, KT will officially step into the content business. Sidus' movies will turn into content provided through both wired and wireless communications services, such as VDSL, WiBro, Internet TV, and wireless networks. KT also hopes to dig into other fields, including entertainment, gaming, and music. To realize this goal, KT invested 100 billion KRW in early 2005 to develop the entertainment segment, and especially established a content committee. Through M&A, KT is also hopeful of enriching the content provided by subsidiaries KTF and KTH. The acquisition cost KT an amount between 25 billion KRW and 30 billion KRW.
